One Nasty Word: Colitis

Poor little Grey had a rough few days this week.  We had been noticing over the past couple weeks that he seemed to cry and fuss more before he went to the bathroom (#2, lol!).  He would cry for about six hours on and off and then finally calm down after he would be able to go. He wouldn't go again for another day or two.  Last weekend was the worse and we knew we needed to go see our pediatrician.  His poor little belly was so distended and painful.

Poor little belly was so distended! :-(

Monday came and I made an appointment first thing in the morning.  The pediatrician came in and could tell the second she walked in that he was in pain.  Watching him be in pain breaks my heart.  I prayed every day that I could endure the pain for him just so he wouldn't have to.  She diagnosed him with this nasty thing:

COLITIS
(Inflammation of the colon)

Poor little guy! The pediatrician stated some babies can't digest some of the proteins in formula so we switched formulas where these proteins are already pre-digested.  We are now on this:

It literally stinks like dog food and now his breath smells like it too!

We started the new formula right away.  The doctor said he would get feeling better in 48-72 hours.  All I can say is Monday night was one of the worst nights yet.  His little system was adjusting to new formula and needed things to pass through, he was hurting so much.  He cried non-stop for four hours that night and I cried along with him.  Cody was so good with trying to calm him but nothing was working.

Sorry, this picture may make everyone sad! Breaks my heart!

After four long hours, he calmed down and surprisingly slept okay.  By the next day, he had been able to start going the bathroom but still wasn't feeling good.  He spend most the day in mom's arms because that is the only place he would stay calm.  Fine with me!!

He is slowly feeling better every day.  He is going to the bathroom regularly now but he still seems uncomfortable.  Hopefully by next week he will feel 100%.  For now, we will continue to snuggle and pray he feels better.

Sleeping soundly in the swing and finally starting to feel better.

Snuggling with dad! Who wouldn't feel better after that!

Just got done eating!

From my view, such a cute face! All I do is kiss that face!

Tonight, we had another fun night of bathing! It seriously is my favorite thing right now.  We always come out with some good pictures and Cody and I happy from watching him be so happy.  We experimented with his hair tonight!

Look at that curl at the end of his hair! Adorable!

Love this look!

We did celebrate being one month old this week! Yay!!

Current weight: 8lb 11oz

This weekend we will spend with family and friends.  Grey is missed so much during the week by both grandparents, aunts and uncles! Have a great weekend!
